Greenwood-Leflore and Carroll counties deliver a reliable, trainable work force to employers. One local manufacturer with hundreds of employees boasts a turnover rate of less than 3%, well below national levels. Absentee rates for area industries are also very low. Since Mississippi is a right-to-work state, even union shops are open shops.
The Mississippi State Department of Education administers an industry-specific training program. Custom-designed to a company’s needs, it can help train new employees or existing employees on new technology and processes.
Training can be conducted at Mississippi Delta Community College, the Capps Center, the Vocational-Technical Complex at Greenwood High School, or at any company’s plant or offices. These programs use experienced instructors or can even pay company staff to conduct classes.
